Why should I see a Physical Therapist?
Physical Therapists (PTs) are movement experts. They specialize in learning biomechanics and assessing individuals for the purpose of rehabilitation following injury, movement optimization, injury risk reduction, pain management and caring for those who just want to live a healthier, happier lifestyle. PTs can have a profound impact on their patient’s lives and one of the biggest ways is through education.
Here at Human Potential, Dr. Dillon treats patients by empowering them with the knowledge required to reach their goals. Leading PTs in the field understand that an active approach to health provides the best, longest lasting results. This is how Dr. Dillon spends time with his patients, teaching and utilizing various treatment techniques that focus on building resiliency while only utilizing manual therapy as needed.
Establishing a good relationship with your healthcare provider is extremely important for success. This is why Human Potential has chosen to be an out-of-network healthcare provider (see below) so that every patient gets the time and attention that they deserve!
How does mobile PT work?
Human Potential provides mobile services within regions of the West Portland area. Dr. Dillon will bring a treatment table and other equipment/weights as needed for use in the comfort of your own home. If you already have a home gym setup, that’s even better! Contact us to see if your location is within our mobile range.
Services are also provided within our gym located within CTA Portland Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or if desired virtual/online services also are available.
Do I need a referral from my primary care physician for physical therapy services?
Oregon is a direct access state which means that you do not need a referral for physical therapy services. Many times this saves you time and money. We will recommend that you see your physician if needed following your initial assessment.
How soon should PT be started after sustaining an injury?
As soon as you can make it in! Waiting to begin treating an injury can prolong your recovery and the time it takes to get you back to doing what you enjoy! Pain automatically impacts how you move and perform tasks throughout the day, over time these compensations can lead to other issues throughout the body.
Do you accept my insurance?
Human Potential is an out-of-network provider which means that we do not directly accept insurance. As healthcare continues to change, patients are often seeing higher deductibles, higher copays, and variable co-insurance rates for physical therapy services. These rising costs at a traditional PT clinic often come with limited one-on-one care along with less individualized treatment plans. Being out-of-network allows us to work for you instead of third-party payers in order to provide a higher level of care that’s focused on your lifestyle and goals. All treatments are based on what you need, not what the insurance company determines will save them the most money.
With individualized treatment plans, patients see better results in fewer visits resulting in a higher total value to help you save money and time. Traditional outpatient PT clinics often push to schedule patients 3x/week for up to 6-8 weeks at which time co-pays and co-insurance payments are due. At Human Potential, we aim for 1-2 visits/week and while the total number of sessions is specific to the individual, significant progress can typically be made within 3-4 weeks.
Insurance plans often have out-of-network benefits which you can inquire about by calling the number on your insurance card. With these benefits, Human Potential can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for possible partial to full reimbursement or to have these services go towards your yearly deductible.

Discuss your current needs with Dr. Dillon to determine if it is appropriate for you to participate in any of these classes or if you should pursue individualized physical therapy/other healthcare options.
UPDATE*: Dr. Dillon now contracts with Luna Physical Therapy, who accepts several major insurances (excluding Oregon Health Plan). For more information, contact us and we can have Luna verify your benefits and schedule your evaluation. As this will then be a traditional insurance based service, visits are generally 45-55 minutes for physical therapy only (not available for performance training/wellness coaching visits) and Luna will handle all insurance/billing questions; mobile visits are available through Luna.
